Share Your 2025 Golf Goal

We want to hear from you, Normal Sport reader, about what your golf goal is in 2025. Maybe it's as simple as finishing 18 for the first time or as advanced as shooting your first round in the 60s. There are no wrong answers, but we would love to see what you're personally trying to accomplish this year.
Take each of my kids individually (Ages 11, 8, 3) to ride along for 9 holes and finish with postround hangout in clubhouse, on Paddy Harrington's advice via Kyle Porter (Did this last year and it was great) https://x.com/KylePorterNS/status/1736759815546827080?t=6a3wv3dIm-PcHdFoysU7Hw&s=19 24 full rounds (21 last year) of golf 11 handicap (currently 12.5) 15 birdies (8 last year. Went on buddies golf trip and played 7 rounds of golf in 4 days with 0 birdies 😬) 1 round no doubles or worse Break 80 again (did it for the first time in 2024) Take a lesson (never had a lesson, and you can easily tell)

Get the kids to the golf course more and more. Be mellow about it, so they ask me to take them more and more.

My golf goal for 2025 is to shoot in the 60's. I've been close before but puked all over myself on the back 9. Another goal is to hit 170 ball speed. I'm low 160's when I'm blacking out. So, I've got some work to do. My son, 15, his goal is to shoot par. I couldn't even comprehend that when I was his age. My daughter, 17, her goal is to break 90. She has all the tools just unfortunately has the hands of a blacksmith.

My only golf goal this year is to enjoy it more. Enjoy reading about it. Enjoy it when I find time to practice. Enjoy working with my coach (and, sidenote – actually find time to work with my coach). Enjoy every shot I get to hit in every round or partial round I get to play. But mostly, enjoy the friends I have because of golf. I lost a great one last year, a guy who really knew how to appreciate the game. For him, I'm going to enjoy my golf in 2025.

I just turned 50 last year and my kids are going to college now, so we're in a transition time. Due to parenting responsibilities and college costs I never get to play as much as I want to. Now with a couple of my boys gone for most of the year, I'm eager to maximize my time with them. When you're a younger parent, more experienced people will tell you it goes by too fast and you'll wish you had more time. So you take note and put your head down and try to enjoy the moments and then, at my age, you realize it went by too fast and you wish you had more time. My goal, then, is to find some more time with them. Playing golf with them forces us to be present with each other with no distractions. It's perfect. I don't even care how well I play.

I played a lot of golf in 2024 (70+ rounds) and my game improved (from a 10.5 to 8.5 index), broke 80 for the first time (4 times). I am practicing on a Sim this winter, using the Stack System and taking a lesson to keep improving. My goals for 2025 are: 1. Play 52+ rounds a year 2. Practice twice for every one round 3. Play in more tournaments to challenge myself under pressure 4. Stay committed to my process 5. Have fun!

Break par twice, by improving my focus in the “play box”.
