Normal Sport's Majors Contest

There are a handful of very cool benefits you’ll receive when you become a Normal Club member. All of our major week coverage, a first look at merchandise, ability to comment (when we get a comments section), all the usual stuff.

But we wanted something even more unique.

So we decided to put together free major championship week contests where Normal Club members get to compete against one another for cash prizes and a place in our chronological, Wikipedia-inspired major winners list.

This is all preposterous, we realize, but then again you are receiving a 3x/week newsletter about golf (barely about golf) so some of that might be on you.

Two things you need to do to compete.

1. Join the Normal Club ($82/year). You will find links to each contest (and past results) in your member profile. Our first purse was not a pint of ice cream but rather actually $4,000 – or just under the purse for the first major at Augusta in 1934 ($5,000). This is not LIV money but still fairly significant for a free contest.

2. The second thing you need to do is to create an account at Splash Sports, which is the company that runs our contests. They do an excellent job, and we are glad to partner with them. Currently, you have to live in the U.S. (Nevada and Washington are excluded) or Canada to create an account with Splash.

That’s it. See FAQs below.

I am having trouble creating an account with Splash Sports.
Sorry about that. We are happy to help, please just email me at kyle@normalsport.com, and I will get you fixed up there.
Why is this not offered outside the U.S. and Canada?
We are unfortunately under the mercy of sweepstakes laws (which sounds like something Phil has for sure said before). This is a bummer because I believe deeply that golf is a global game, and that us Americans sometimes act like we invented it. I never want my newsletter to reflect that, and having the contest be for Americans only sometimes makes me feel like it does.

I apologize for that, and we will keep seeking ways to include those of you who live outside the U.S. and Canada in our growing community.
I didn’t realize my location wasn’t eligible when I became a Normal Club member.
That’s OK, we are happy to refund your membership! Just email me at kyle@normalsport.com.
This is really free?
That’s right. We are doing this because 1. It’s fun 2. We think It will build some good community and 3. These contests are one of the ways we want to provide you value and say thank you for your annual Normal Club membership.
What does signing up with Splash Sports entail?
There is ID verification (in case you win), but once you’re in, you’re good to go for all of our other major championship contests. I am told you do not have to provide them a credit card because our contest is free. Although you can provide one, and I did recently for a fun little $25 March Madness survivor contest (which I did not win).
Wait, what is Splash Sports?
Think about them like the business who has figured out how to run the games we all love (March Madness pools, survivor contests etc.) legally. They are the third party we have chosen to run our major contests and one I have asked around about within the industry and gotten nothing but good feedback on.
I don’t live in Nevada or Washington, but I’m still unable to sign up.
Splash doesn’t normally run contests that are free to enter but with cash prizes. Their software was reading this as a paid-to-enter contest, which are banned in ~10 states (Montana, Delaware, Louisiana etc.) So if you are in one of those states, you may be having trouble, but I am told this was resolved as April 7, 2025. Please contact us if you are still unable to sign up.
