Share Your 2025 Golf Goal

We want to hear from you, Normal Sport reader, about what your golf goal is in 2025. Maybe it's as simple as finishing 18 for the first time or as advanced as shooting your first round in the 60s. There are no wrong answers, but we would love to see what you're personally trying to accomplish this year.
Make more eagles than >doubles this year. I’m a decent low index player who rarely goes super low, but also rarely blows up. This year, I would like to trust myself more to hit some big shots when given a green light. I may not actually make any more eagles, but if I make a few more birdies and still keep big numbers off the card, it’s a win.

Logged 32 18-hole rounds last year, so let’s try to beat that here in 2025. Birdie every hole at least once at my club. 50 birdies total, ideally. Get the hdcp below 6 (currently 7.7). Play in at least two B Team matches at my club. And play as many 3 and 6 hole loops as possible with my two older kids (11 & 8, the 3 year old has a few more years until we include him).

I came up with these before the new year: Avg 2 birdies/round 10 rounds with no doubles (or worse) 10 rounds with no 3-putts Break 70 twice

I’ve been blessed to travel a big part of the golf world with a camera. Yet I’ve only ever stepped foot on 2 European courses. Shooting 2023 Solheim in Spain, and a couple days spectating the 2010 Open at St Andrews (no camera or phone). In 2025, I’d love to see some Scottish and Irish courses with a few clubs and a camera.

At age 64 I’m playing my best golf over the past 3 years and averaging 90 rounds a year. Set new PRs: average score below 83 (83.2 is best year), keep index below 9 (ranged from 6.5 to 10.6 last year), break 80 over 20 times (17 is best year), shoot par golf for a round (had a 73 last year), achieve 90% “safe” drives (can advance ball at least 100 yards on 2nd shot), 50% GIR, 83% GIR+1 (having a putt for par).

Drop handicap to <6 from 8.6. Average 1 birdie per 18 holes. Play 20 rounds this year.

Actually make time to practice - which should mostly be short game practice. I will be playing in my club’s District Team for the first time so I want to do my best for my teammates.

Play an average of 1x/week and get my index down to the low double digits from the high double digits today.
